Services

Service one

Classic car restoration

Frame off and rolling builds. It comes apart here, the work happens here, and it goes back together here.

Scout II frame stripped bare with the drivetrain out during a frame off restoration at Jack's Custom Restoration

Most of the hours in a build go into metal and paint prep long before any colour gets sprayed. That is the part that decides whether the car is still straight twenty years from now.

  • Frame off and rolling builds
  • Structural and cosmetic metal
  • Engine and drivetrain swaps
  • Reassembly and final inspection

Service two

Rust repair and metal fabrication

We cut the rust out, make the replacement metal, weld it in and seal both sides of it.

Rust cut out of a body mount showing how far corrosion goes before new metal is welded in

Collision shops are built for insurance turnaround and will not cut and weld rust, so those vehicles get sent away. That work is our main line. If nobody reproduces the panel for your vehicle, we make it here out of flat stock.

  • Floors, rockers, cab corners, quarters
  • Panels made when none exist
  • Seam and cavity protection
  • Structural rust fixed, not buried

Service three

Media blasting and prep

Paint, filler and corrosion taken back to clean metal, with the media matched to the panel.

Media blasted fenders and panels taken back to bare metal, ready for epoxy primer

Blasting shows you what you actually bought. It takes off everything hiding the real condition of the metal, including filler packed over rust and repairs somebody buried years ago. Epoxy goes on the bare metal right away so it does not flash rust while the project sits.

  • Bodies, panels, frames, components
  • Old repairs exposed
  • Epoxy primer straight after
  • Blasting alone if you're doing the rest

Service four

Custom paint and refinishing

Epoxy primer, blocked straight, then colour and clear, wet sanded and buffed out.

Gloss is what makes a wavy panel obvious, so the body gets blocked until the reflections run straight. Colour sanding and buffing after the clear is what separates a finish that holds up from one that looks good for a season.

  • Base clear, single stage, custom finishes
  • Guide coat and block sanding
  • Wet sand, compound, polish
  • Full repaints and single panels

Service five

Undercoating and rust prevention

Raptor liner, cavity wax and seam sealing on the parts of your vehicle the salt gets at first.

Cleaned and recoated truck frame at Jack's Custom Restoration

Six months of brine a year gets into the wheel arches, rockers, running boards and cab corners first, every time. Cleaned and coated before the first winter, a truck picks up years. Coating over scale just traps the moisture, so if metal work is needed first you will hear that instead of a cheap yes.

  • Raptor liner on arches and running boards
  • Cavity wax inside rockers and doors
  • Seam sealing and stone chip protection
  • New trucks and vehicles already showing rust

Service six

OEM and aftermarket parts sourcing

Finding the panel, the trim piece or the driveline part your build needs, and getting it here.

Replacement sheet metal laid out in the shop at Jack's Custom Restoration

On an older vehicle, parts availability sets the timeline more often than labour does. OEM where it still exists, aftermarket where it does not with the fit checked first, good used where that is the only path left, and fabricated here when nothing is made at all. Priced per job, at cost plus the hours it takes to track it down.

  • OEM, aftermarket and good used
  • Panels, trim, glass and driveline
  • Fit checked before fitting
  • Cost plus hours, no hidden markup

Extra service

Enclosed vehicle transport

Enclosed trailer hauling for vehicles that should not be towed open, or cannot be driven at all. Billed by the kilometre, because what wears the truck out is distance, not clock time.

Running empty to you

$1.25per km

The leg out to wherever the vehicle is sitting, before it goes on the deck.

Loaded

$4per km

Your vehicle on the trailer. Non runners, fresh paint, or anything you would rather not tow open.

Where it goes

Highway 16

Pickup and delivery through the corridor, Prince Rupert to Prince George. It does not have to be a job here.

Questions

About the work

What is the shop rate?

$150 per hour plus materials, two hour minimum, the same rate across every service. Restorations usually land between 800 and 1000 hours and full paint jobs between 100 and 160 hours, which is why the estimate is written stage by stage instead of as one number.

Why is there a two hour minimum?

Any job that comes in gets set up, masked, worked and cleaned up after, whether it takes one hour or ten. The minimum covers the setup so the hourly rate does not have to.

Can I get just one of these on its own?

Yes. Blasting only, one panel of rust, undercoating on a truck, one panel resprayed. Not every job has to be a full build.

Do you do cheap blow over paint?

No, and that is the one thing we turned away from. The prep underneath is what makes paint last, so spraying colour over bad metal is money you spend twice.

What if the panel I need is not made anymore?

We make it. Flat stock, shaped and welded in. That is a big part of why rust jobs end up here instead of at a collision shop.

Can I supply my own parts or paint?

Usually yes. Talk to us first about the paint system, because mixing products from different lines is how finishes fail down the road.

Do you undercoat new trucks?

Yes, and that is the best time to do it. Raptor liner on wheel arches and running boards, cavity wax inside the rockers and doors, before the first winter puts brine on it.

Will you work on a modern daily driver?

Yes. Trucks, imports, 4x4s and daily drivers all come through. It does not have to be a classic to need metal or paint.

Need one of these done?

Call (250) 380-8173 weekdays between 9am and 5pm, or send some photos over and we'll get you a range.
